Introduction
Several subtypes of serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT) receptors exist physiologically and are implicated in a variety of peripheral and central nervous system activities. To-date, clinical studies continue to provide evidence that manipulation of the 5-HT system has a role in treating depression, anxiety, obsessional illness, migraine, and eating disorders. Identification of 5-HT receptor subtypes has encouraged the manufacture of 5-HT receptor inhibitors with greater subtype specificity. |

At Lynk, our proprietary platform technologies have created derivatives of 5-HT that are potential specific leads targeted at the various 5-HT receptors. One of our most promising experimental CNS modulatory compounds to-date is Dicromine™. Using Dicromine™ as a competitive ligand of [3H]5-HT binding, it was found that 50% inhibition of [3H]5-HT binding at 5 nM was attained with 0.1 µM of Dicromine™ (ie. IC50 of Dicromine™ = 0.1 µM).
In-vivo experiments have shown that Dicromine™ is capable of substantially heightening a treated rat's response in a startle response experiment. The single-dose effect was evident immediately, and a strong startle response continued to be observed for approximately 2 to 3 weeks. |

Business and Research Collaboration Opportunities |

Lynk is currently seeking a research collaborator to help validate potential leads implicated in the modulation of the CNS, and a business partner to co-develop our better characterized leads into potential new drugs. Lynk also provides services to generate pharmacological "knock-outs"/"knock-ins", create new leads for CNS targets, as well as identify side effects of existing leads using out proprietary technologies. |
